"My first Ikebana: Ikebana for the Young and Young at Heart” book launch

I am excited to announce the release of my first book “My First Ikebana: Ikebana for the Young and Young at Heart” (ISBN ISBN 9789058567161). The publication has been a year in the making, and is a collaboration between my publisher Stichting Kunstboek, ikebana photographer Ben Huybrechts, and I.

My First Ikebana is a culmination of my joy of ikebana, together with my passion for education, particularly teaching children. I have drawn on my extensive knowledge and experience as a teacher and Education Program Evaluator for the Australian Department of Defence to develop engaging ikebana activities for all ages.

Through detailed step-by-step arrangements, my unique ikebana book guides parents, teachers, grandparents, and others in how to teach ikebana to children. My First Ikebana is more than just a step-by-step book, it offers its readers an insight into child and adolescent learning and includes ideas for supplemental activities to support the creation of each arrangement within classroom/workshop situations.

For each topic there is a simple arrangement suitable for younger children, as well as more complex arrangement suitable for both older children and adults alike. The fun and creative arrangements in this book aim to inspire not only a younger generation of ikebana artists, but also the young at heart.

"My First Ikebana: Ikebana for the Young and Young at Heart" is due for release later this month. To secure your copy it is possible to pre-order a copy here.
